Mark Shuttleworth started the Foundation in 2001 and he is the driving force behind the success of the initiative. Known for testing boundaries in every sphere he becomes involved in, Mark continues to drive change in the world through the Foundation. We prides ourselves in investing in initiatives and individuals who challenge the status quo and positively contribute to change. The Foundation is at its core an experiment in open philanthropy and uses alternative funding methodologies, new technologies and collaborative ways of working to ensure that every initiative receives the best exposure and resources to succeed. All our work is underpinned by Our Philosophy. We provide funding for dynamic leaders who are at the forefront of social change. We identify amazing people, give them a fellowship grant, and multiply the money they put into their projects by a factor of ten or more. We are looking for social innovators who are helping to change the world for the better and are looking for some support through an innovative social investment model.
Fellowship Topics :
The Foundation does not have strictly defined areas of funding as we have found this restrictive as people do not always fit into boxes.

What happens in those dark labs and behind shiny laptops? The future of computing is being invented at IIIT-Delhi. It's time to get a glimpse. IIIT-Delhi is organizing its first annual Research Showcase to showcase the prominent research and projects being carried out at the institute. These posters and demos include some of the recent innovations by various research groups at IIIT-D including Image Analysis and Biometrics,Information Management and Data Analytics, Mobile and Ubiquitous computing, Security and Privacy, Software Engineering and Theory as well as outstanding projects done by students as part of their courses.
When and Who? IIIT-D Research Showcase '11 will be held over two days: March 11, 2011 Friday, 4-7 pm; March 12, 2011 Saturday, 10 am-2 pm.
Research Showcase '11 is intended for faculty of other institutes, industry professionals, media, students, parents and other tech-savvy visitors. Registration is free but mandatory. To register, click the link below.

Why? Research Showcase brings forth the scholarly work of students at IIIT-D.
